The Art of Simple Design
During one of the workshop sessions about seasons and colors, the Kazana team requested Amboseli women artisans to create simple jewelry designs using two or three primary colors of seed beads.
The idea was to have the women do what they do best using colors that could appeal to the Western market during the holiday season. The women beaded away and came up with several design samples including the white and gold necklace and the red and black bracelets displayed above. Each piece had the familiar silver chains and charms that are signature adornments in intricate Maasai beadwork.
Impressive work that shows the art, creativity and thought process of these highly skilled Maasai women.
